The Institute of Data, Democracy and Politics (IDDP) is seeking an experienced Student Research Assistant to work on a project collecting best practices to support information integrity. The project will develop a set of principles and recommendations to inform information integrity strategies supporting democratic legitimacy. The Student Research Assistant will largely work remotely, with regular coordination meetings held in person and via video conference.
The student will report to IDDP’s Executive Director and work closely with the affiliated faculty lead.
Responsibilities:
- Support outreach to subject matter experts, maintain calendars and
schedule interviews. - Support analysis of qualitative data from interviews.
- Assist with drafting and editing analysis of interviews.
- Review supporting literature and draft summaries.
- Maintain organized files and digital interview libraries.
- Support in the preparation and submission of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the
supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
- Please note this position is only available for currently enrolled GW Students.
- Work on this project will commence as soon as the hiring process is complete and is expected to continue through the spring semester of 2027.
Required Qualifications:
Previous skills, training, or experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with experience in data analysis and data annotation to join our research team. The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in scientific research, excellent writing and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in standard office software. Prior exposure to politics or political science, as well as previous experience with qualitative research and content analysis coding, will be considered a strong asset.
