No matter who was behind the blast at the al-Ahli hospital in Gaza, the images are gut-wrenching, the tragedy beyond measure.
Officials in Palestine blamed an Israeli air strike for the explosion, while Israel says a failed rocket launch led to the hospital being hit.
The incident is already painting a portrait of the atrocities of war and the fog of war...
Experts say the blame game and muddled messages are as old as the history of war itself.
"When looking at messages that you see information in war zones. Often times that information is not simply just reporting that information comes with an agenda," David Broniatowski, an Associate Professor at George Washington University said in an interview with The National Desk Wednesday.
Broniatowski, who conducts research in group decision-making, system architecture, and behavioral epidemiology, added that the rapid amplification of all those different agendas on social media makes arriving at the truth even more difficult.
