Brandon Silverman is a policy expert on social media transparency. He was formerly the CEO and Co-Founder of CrowdTangle, a social analytics tool that was acquired by Facebook in 2016 and was one of the primary ways Facebook was transparent about what was happening on its platform. Brandon left in October 2021, in the midst of a debate over how much information the company should make public about its platform. Since then, he has been advising civil society organizations and lawmakers around the world to help design legislation that would require large online platforms to share more data with the outside world. He's testified in the U.S. Senate & Australian Parliament about transparency regulation, he speaks frequently at conferences & events and his writing & commentary has appeared in the New York Times, BBC, Guardian, CNN and more. He lives in Oakland with his wife and three young kids.
