Misinformation/Disinformation Lab

Led by Ethan Porter, the Misinformation/Disinformation cluster investigates both the effects of potentially harmful online content and ways to mitigate them.

The cluster applies state-of-the-art theories and methodologies rooted in social, cognitive and political psychology and works closely with IDDP’s external partners to identify specific research projects. For example, Prof. Porter and PolitiFact are currently developing a study to evaluate strategies for encouraging greater public consumption of fact-checking.
